Vocal Fold Nodules are bumps that can form on the vocal folds. Nodules always form bilaterally in the anterior third of the vocal folds. They are caused by friction between the vocal folds and may cause vocal color to be raspy, hoarse, cause a pitch break, or have no noticeable impact. They occur most commonly in higher pitch singers due to the increased closure rates.
