Sternohyoid

The sternohyoid is a thin, strap-like muscle located in the neck region. It plays a role in singing as it is part of the group of muscles known as infrahyoid muscles, which are responsible for depressing the hyoid bone and larynx during swallowing and speech. The sternohyoid originates from the medial edge of the clavicle, sternoclavicular ligament, and the posterior side of the manubrium and inserts into the body of the hyoid.
