Sound Pressure Level (SPL) is a measure of the intensity or loudness of sound. It quantifies the pressure variations caused by sound waves in a given environment. SPL is expressed in decibels (dB) on a logarithmic scale, relative to a standard reference level, typically 20 μPa which is considered the threshold of human hearing. It provides a standardized way to compare and describe sound levels, ranging from faint whispers to powerful concerts or jet engine noise.
