The sacrum is a large, triangular-shaped bone located at the base of the spine, beneath the lumbar vertebrae. Comprising five fused vertebrae, the sacrum forms the back of the pelvis and serves as a link between the spine and the pelvis. It provides stability and support to the spinal column, while also playing a crucial role in weight transmission from the upper body to the lower body. The sacrum’s articulations with the hip bones contribute to the overall structure and stability of the pelvis, making it a key element in maintaining proper posture and balance.
