Some texts separate the Thyroarytenoid muscle into two parts the thyromuscularis and thyrovocalis. The thyrovocalis running parallel the thyromuscularis and vocal ligament originating from the thyroid cartilage and inserting in the arytenoid cartilage, it serves as a tensor.
