Thyromuscularis

Some texts separate the Thyroarytenoid muscle into two parts the Thyromuscularis and Thyrovocalis. The Thyromuscularis originating from the lower half of the angle of the thyroid cartilage it runs posteriorly and inserts in to the base of the arytenoid cartilage. The thyromuscularis is nearest the laryngeal wall and serves as a relaxer.
