Straight tone is a vocal technique that is common in various genres and stages of vocal maturity. Despite the name, straight tone is a misnomer. While singing a straight tone the vibrato rate and extent are greatly reduced giving the listener the impression of no vibrato; however, vibrato is still present and can be seen on a spectrogram.
