Phonation Threshold Pressure (Pth or PTP) is the minimum sub-glottal pressure required for phonation, measured in kilopascal (kPa). The required pressure is calculated by taking 0.14 + 0.06 x (Fundamental Frequency / average spoken frequency) ^2. This produces an accurate measurement for every singer. It is worth noting that according to the research of Ingo Titze, most if not all, singers have greater than required sub-glottal pressure while phonating.
