Head Voice is the common term for cricothyroid dominant vocal production or Mode 2. In this style of singing the vocal folds are thinned and frequently stretched producing less harmonic intensity and allowing for higher pitches to be produced more easily. A traditional head voice is not a breathy voice quality and so falsetto may or may not be an example of head voice.
